Andersonville National Historic Site, a Confederate Civil War prison, includes Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville Prison (Camp Sumter) and the National Prisoner of War Museum  in Andersonville, Georgia. The site was a Civil War prison, north of Tallahassee, that was in existence for 14 months and held over 45,000 Union soldiers of which 13,000 died from exposure, disease, poor sanitation, malnutrition and overcrowding.
