Fed Ex Swath mw 072602.JPG
The burned out remains of a Fed Ex 727 that crashed just before 6 am this morning, Friday July 26, 2002, at the Tallahassee airport. The jet left a swath of black, clipping trees on it's path down before landing near construction equipment at the intersection of the airport's two main runways. When firecrews arrived, they found the three crew members "standing there in the smoke," said one firefighter. The airport fire rescue had been alerted by the control tower by an employee that arrived prior to his shift and the opening of the control tower. The plane was already down.
